34 | 34 | | NGENERAL.—The Attorney General shall con-3 |

35 | 35 | | duct an investigation to determine whether there was a 4 |

36 | 36 | | violation of section 1531 of title 18, United States Code, 5 |
---|
37 | 37 | | (commonly known as the ‘‘Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act 6 |
---|
38 | 38 | | of 2003’’) in connection with the remains of the 5 babies 7 |
---|
39 | 39 | | that were discovered by the D.C. Metropolitan Police De-8 |
---|
40 | 40 | | partment on March 30, 2022. 9 |

42 | 42 | | EPORT.—Not later than 6 months after the date 10 |
---|
43 | 43 | | of enactment of this Act, the Attorney General shall sub-11 |
---|
44 | 44 | | mit to the Congress a report containing a detailed descrip-12 |
---|
45 | 45 | | tion of the Attorney General’s investigation conducted 13 |
---|
46 | 46 | | under subsection (a) into the circumstances surrounding 14 |
---|
47 | 47 | | the deaths of each baby that was recovered, including any 15 |
---|
48 | 48 | | enforcement action taken. 16 |
---|
49 | 49 | | SEC. 3. REQUIREMENT TO INVESTIGATE VIOLATIONS OF 17 |
---|
50 | 50 | | THE PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION BAN. 18 |
---|
51 | 51 | | Section 1531 of title 18, United States Code, is 19 |
---|
52 | 52 | | amended by adding at the end the following: 20 |
---|
53 | 53 | | ‘‘(f) The Attorney General shall investigate and take 21 |
---|
54 | 54 | | appropriate enforcement action for alleged violations of 22 |
---|
55 | 55 | | this section.’’. 23 |
---|
56 | 56 | | SEC. 4. MANDATORY REPORTING OF VIOLATIONS. 24 |
---|
57 | 57 | | A health care practitioner or any employee of a hos-25 |
---|
58 | 58 | | pital, a physician’s office, or an abortion clinic who has 26 |
---|

69 | 69 | | General shall submit to the Committees on the Judiciary 8 |

71 | 71 | | publish on the website of the Department of Justice, a 10 |

73 | 73 | | (1) A list of steps taken by the Department of 12 |

74 | 74 | | Justice to inform abortion providers of their respon-13 |
---|
75 | 75 | | sibility to comply with section 1531 of title 18, 14 |

76 | 76 | | United States Code. 15 |

77 | 77 | | (2) The number of alleged violations of such 16 |
---|
78 | 78 | | section during the previous 10-year period, a de-17 |
---|
79 | 79 | | scription of all efforts taken by the Department of 18 |
---|
80 | 80 | | Justice to investigate such alleged violations, and the 19 |
---|
81 | 81 | | number of enforcement actions related to such al-20 |
---|
82 | 82 | | leged violations, including any preliminary investiga-21 |
---|
83 | 83 | | tion of, prosecution of, and charges filed in connec-22 |
---|
