1717 Supporting the designation of March 2025 as National
1818 Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
1919 Whereas colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of can-
2020 cer death among men and women combined in the United
2121 States;
2222 Whereas colorectal cancer is one of the most highly prevent-
2323 able forms of cancer because screening tests can find pol-
2424 yps that can be removed before becoming cancerous;
2525 Whereas screening tests can detect colorectal cancer early,
2626 when treatment works best;
2727 Whereas the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention esti-
2828 mates that if every individual aged 50 or older had reg-

3434 Whereas the 5-year survival rate for patients with localized
3535 colorectal cancer is 90 percent, but only 39 percent of all
3636 diagnoses occur at this stage;
3737 Whereas colorectal cancer screenings can effectively reduce
3838 colorectal cancer incidence and mortality, yet, 1 in 3
3939 adults over 50 years of age are not up to date with rec-
4040 ommended colorectal cancer screening;
4141 Whereas 1 in 23 men and 1 in 26 women will be diagnosed
4242 with colorectal cancer in their lifetime;
4343 Whereas, by 2030, colorectal cancer is expected to be the
4444 number one cancer killer for those ages 20–49;
4545 Whereas public awareness and education campaigns on
4646 colorectal cancer prevention, screening, and symptoms
4747 are held during the month of March each year; and
4848 Whereas educational efforts can help provide information to
4949 the public of methods of prevention and screening, as
5050 well as about symptoms for early detection: Now, there-
5151 fore, be it
5252 Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
5353 (1) supports the goals and ideals of National 2
5454 Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month; and 3
5555 (2) encourages the people of the United States 4
5656 to observe the month with appropriate awareness 5
5757 and educational activities. 6
