13	13	following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs
14	14	RESOLUTION
15	15	Recognizing the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, com-
16	16	mending a month of fasting and spiritual renewal, and
17	17	extending best wishes to Muslims in the United States
18	18	and across the globe for a joyous and meaningful observ-
19	19	ance of Eid al-Fitr.
20	20	Whereas Ramadan is the holy month of fasting and spiritual
21	21	renewal for Muslims worldwide;
22	22	Whereas this month of sacrifice and contemplation began on
23	23	February 28, 2025, based on the visual sightings of the
24	24	crescent Moon;
25	25	Whereas Muslims in the United States and around the world
26	26	observe Ramadan by fasting, emphasizing self-discipline,

30	30	worship, charity, and reading the Holy Quran to improve
31	31	patience, humility, and spirituality;
32	32	Whereas Ramadan continued until the celebration of Eid al-
33	33	Fitr;
34	34	Whereas Eid al-Fitr begins each year with the sighting of the
35	35	new Moon, signifying a month-long end to fasting and re-
36	36	flection for all Muslim followers;
37	37	Whereas it is estimated that there are approximately
38	38	1,900,000,000 Muslims worldwide;
39	39	Whereas over 9,514 Muslims serve on active duty and over
40	40	6,622 Muslims serve as selected reserve personnel in the
41	41	United States Armed Forces;
42	42	Whereas there are over 200 elected officials who identify as
43	43	Muslim;
44	44	Whereas it is estimated that there are 1,200,000 Muslim vot-
45	45	ers in the United States;
46	46	Whereas the Muslim population has been growing in the
47	47	United States and today’s American Muslim population
48	48	is a tapestry of ethnic, racial, linguistic, social, and eco-
49	49	nomic groups;
50	50	Whereas American Muslims have contributed to every part of
51	51	society to make advancements in medicine, science, engi-
52	52	neering, economics, sports, education, and the law; and
53	53	Whereas the observance of the Muslim holy month of Rama-
54	54	dan has concluded with Eid al-Fitr, a 3-day celebration:
55	55	Now, therefore, be it
56	56	Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
57	57	(1) demonstrates solidarity with and support 2
58	58	for members of the community of Islam in the 3

65	65	(2) in observance of and out of respect for 4
66	66	Ramadan tradition, the Muslim holy month of fast-5
67	67	ing and spiritual renewal, offers its best wishes to all 6
68	68	Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr, the conclusion of 7
69	69	Ramadan, while also expressing its deepest respect 8
70	70	to Muslims in the United States and worldwide on 9
71	71	this important occasion. 10
