1414 Supporting the goals and ideals of National Public Safety
1515 Telecommunicators Week.
1616 Whereas public safety telecommunications professionals play
1717 a critical role in emergency response;
1818 Whereas the work that public safety telecommunications pro-
1919 fessionals perform goes far beyond simply relaying infor-
2020 mation between the public and first responders;
2121 Whereas, when responding to reports of missing, abducted,
2222 and sexually exploited children, the information obtained
2323 and actions taken by public safety telecommunications
2424 professionals form the foundation for an effective re-
2525 sponse;
2626 Whereas, when a hostage taker or suicidal individual calls
2727 911, the first contact that individual has is with a public

3333 Whereas, during crises, public safety telecommunications pro-
3434 fessionals, while collecting vital information to provide
3535 situational awareness for responding officers—
3636 (1) coach callers through first aid techniques; and
3737 (2) give advice to those callers to prevent further
3838 harm;
3939 Whereas the work done by individuals who serve as public
4040 safety telecommunications professionals has an extreme
4141 emotional and physical toll on those individuals, which is
4242 compounded by long hours and the around-the-clock na-
4343 ture of the job;
4444 Whereas public safety telecommunications professionals
4545 should be recognized by all levels of government for the
4646 lifesaving and protective nature of their work;
4747 Whereas major emergencies highlight the dedication of public
4848 safety telecommunications professionals and their impor-
4949 tant work in protecting the public and police, fire, and
5050 emergency medical officials; and
5151 Whereas public safety telecommunications professionals are
5252 often called as witnesses to provide important testimony
5353 in criminal trials: Now, therefore, be it
5454 Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
5555 (1) supports the goals and ideals of National 2
5656 Public Safety Telecommunicators Week; 3
5757 (2) honors and recognizes the important and 4
5858 lifesaving contributions of public safety tele-5
