1717 RESOLUTION
1818 Supporting May 2 as ‘‘National Space Day’’ in recognition
1919 of the significant positive impact the aerospace commu-
2020 nity has and will continue to have on the United States
2121 of America.
2222 Whereas the aerospace industry and other government part-
2323 ners, including the National Aeronautics and Space Ad-
2424 ministration (NASA) and Armed Forces of the United
2525 States of America, have led the way in space exploration,
2626 research, and security in the 20th and 21st centuries;
2727 Whereas Congress has spearheaded America’s space endeav-
2828 ors, founding NASA, the Space Force, by supporting the
2929 National Reconnaissance Office, fostering the commercial

3333 space sector’s growth, and cementing partnerships with
3434 key research centers such as The Aerospace Corporation,
3535 Project Air Force, the Center for Naval Analysis, Jet
3636 Propulsion Labs, and all other entities and agencies driv-
3737 ing the United States global leadership and innovation in
3838 space;
3939 Whereas NASA developed the Apollo Space Program that
4040 launched numerous space exploration missions including
4141 the Apollo 11 Moon landing on July 20, 1969;
4242 Whereas NASA continues to develop far-reaching and high-
4343 profile programs that expand our scientific ability while
4444 inspiring leagues of students, such the Space Shuttle,
4545 which accomplished 135 crewed transportation missions
4646 from Earth-to-orbit from 1981 to 2011, the 5 Mars rover
4747 vehicles that have explored the surface of Mars since
4848 1997, and the developing Moon exploration program
4949 Artemis;
5050 Whereas the James Webb Space Telescope represents a pin-
5151 nacle of international collaboration in space exploration,
5252 led by NASA, showcasing the United States commitment
5353 to leading globally-coordinated scientific endeavors to
5454 unlock insights into our cosmic origins and our future;
5555 Whereas the ingenuity of aerospace scientists, engineers, as-
5656 tronauts, and others continue to discover and invent a
5757 wide variety of space-related technologies and applica-
5858 tions that have benefited humankind, such as the global
5959 positioning system whose invention and now daily use is
6060 one example of the life-changing impact on our way of
6161 life;
6262 Whereas the aerospace industry and academic partners have
6363 not only aided the United States in space exploration and

6767 research, but also in space-related domains such as na-
6868 tional security, science, agriculture, health and medicine,
6969 education, and space tourism;
7070 Whereas science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
7171 engagement has been a primary focus of NASA’s mission
7272 and a critical initiative for commercial space companies,
7373 space museums, and STEM educations centers, such as
7474 the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas, in an effort to
7575 build the workforce of the future;
7676 Whereas the accelerated growth in enthusiasm, interest, and
7777 investment in space is continuing a long-standing tradi-
7878 tion of innovation and scientific discovery;
7979 Whereas the rapid expansion of space exploration and the in-
8080 vestments made by leaders in the aerospace industry,
8181 Congress, NASA, the Armed Services of the United
8282 States, universities, and a myriad of others are inspiring
8383 generations of new explorers into the final frontier of
8484 space; and
8585 Whereas this rapid growth encourages the promotion of edu-
8686 cational initiatives to inspire young minds in Science,
8787 Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields, fos-
8888 tering the next generation of space enthusiasts: Now,
8989 therefore, be it
9090 Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
9191 (1) supports the goals of ‘‘National Space 2
9292 Day’’; 3
9393 (2) recognizes the importance of the entire 4
9494 aerospace community, including government agen-5
9595 cies, federally funded research and development cen-6
