2323 Recognizing the significance of the Greensboro Four sit-
2424 in during Black History Month.
2525 Whereas February 1, 2025, is the 65th anniversary of the
2626 Greensboro Four sit-in;
2727 Whereas February 1, 2025, also marks the beginning of
2828 Black History month, and America’s celebration of the
2929 contributions of Black Americans to America’s rich his-
3030 tory and culture;

3434 Whereas Joseph McNeil, Jibreel Khazan (formerly Ezell
3535 Blair, Jr.), Franklin McCain, and David Richmond are
3636 the members of the Greensboro Four;
3737 Whereas the Greensboro Four attended North Carolina Agri-
3838 cultural and Technical State University;
3939 Whereas the Greensboro Four were refused service at the
4040 F.W. Woolworth cafeteria in Greensboro, North Carolina,
4141 on February 1, 1960;
4242 Whereas the Greensboro Four ignited a movement to chal-
4343 lenge racial inequality throughout the South;
4444 Whereas the Greensboro Four were joined by female students
4545 from Bennett College and Greensboro Women’s College;
4646 Whereas the sit-ins spread nationwide with over 700,000 peo-
4747 ple participating, including students, clergymen, and citi-
4848 zens, both White and Black;
4949 Whereas the protests resulted in more than 3,000 arrests;
5050 Whereas the Greensboro Four remained peaceful throughout
5151 the 6-month sit-in; and
5252 Whereas the Woolworth Lunch Counter was integrated on
5353 July 26, 1960: Now, therefore, be it
5454 Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
5555 (1) recognizes the Greensboro Four for their 2
5656 contribution to the civil rights movement and the 3
5757 significant role they played as a catalyst for the mo-4
5858 bilization of college students in the civil rights move-5
5959 ment coalescing in the formation of the Student 6
6060 Non-Violent Coordinating Committee; 7
