16 | 16 | | Whereas there are 34 Tribal colleges and universities oper- |
---|
17 | 17 | | ating on more than 90 campuses in 16 States; |
---|
18 | 18 | | Whereas Tribal colleges and universities are institutions of |
---|
19 | 19 | | higher education that receive Tribal charters or Federal |
---|
20 | 20 | | charters and therefore have a unique relationship with |
---|
21 | 21 | | the Federal Government; |
---|
22 | 22 | | Whereas Tribal colleges and universities serve students from |
---|
23 | 23 | | more than 230 federally recognized Indian Tribes; |
---|
24 | 24 | | Whereas Tribal colleges and universities offer students access |
---|
25 | 25 | | to knowledge and skills grounded in cultural traditions |
---|
26 | 26 | | and values, including indigenous languages, which— |

44 | 44 | | ment policies, and approximately 13 percent of the stu- |

45 | 45 | | dents at Tribal colleges and universities are non-Indian |

47 | 47 | | Whereas the collective mission and the considerable achieve- |

48 | 48 | | ments of Tribal colleges and universities deserve national |

49 | 49 | | recognition: Now, therefore, be it |

50 | 50 | | Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1 |

51 | 51 | | (1) supports the designation of ‘‘National Trib-2 |

52 | 52 | | al Colleges and Universities Week’’; and 3 |
