1313 Expressing support for the designation of the week beginning
1414 February 3, 2025, as ‘‘National Tribal Colleges and Uni-
1515 versities Week’’.
1616 Whereas there are 34 Tribal colleges and universities oper-
1717 ating on more than 90 campuses in 16 States;
1818 Whereas Tribal colleges and universities are institutions of
1919 higher education that receive Tribal charters or Federal
2020 charters and therefore have a unique relationship with
2121 the Federal Government;
2222 Whereas Tribal colleges and universities serve students from
2323 more than 230 federally recognized Indian Tribes;
2424 Whereas Tribal colleges and universities offer students access
2525 to knowledge and skills grounded in cultural traditions
2626 and values, including indigenous languages, which—

3030 (1) enhance Indian communities; and
3131 (2) enrich the United States as a nation;
3232 Whereas Tribal colleges and universities provide access to
3333 high-quality postsecondary educational opportunities
3434 for—
3535 (1) American Indians;
3636 (2) Alaska Natives; and
3737 (3) other individuals who live in some of the most
3838 isolated and economically depressed areas in the United
3939 States;
4040 Whereas Tribal colleges and universities are accredited insti-
4141 tutions of higher education that prepare students to suc-
4242 ceed in the global and highly competitive workforce;
4343 Whereas Tribal colleges and universities have open enroll-
4444 ment policies, and approximately 13 percent of the stu-
4545 dents at Tribal colleges and universities are non-Indian
4646 individuals; and
4747 Whereas the collective mission and the considerable achieve-
4848 ments of Tribal colleges and universities deserve national
4949 recognition: Now, therefore, be it
5050 Resolved, That the House of Representatives— 1
5151 (1) supports the designation of ‘‘National Trib-2
5252 al Colleges and Universities Week’’; and 3
5353 (2) urges the people of the United States and 4
5454 interested groups to observe National Tribal Colleges 5
5555 and Universities Week with appropriate activities 6
5656 and programs to demonstrate support for Tribal col-7
5757 leges and universities. 8
