A BILL
To amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to direct the
Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study of the Deer-
field River for potential addition to the national wild
and scenic rivers system, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Deerfield River Wild 4
and Scenic River Study Act of 2025’’. 5
SEC. 2. DESIGNATION FOR STUDY; REPORT. 6
Section 5 of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16 7
U.S.C. 1276) is amended— 8

(1) in subsection (a), by adding at the end the 1
following: 2
‘‘(147) D
EERFIELD RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS 3
AND VERMONT.—The entire river, including— 4
‘‘(A) the North, South, East, and West 5
Branches of the Deerfield River; and 6
‘‘(B) the major tributaries of the Deerfield 7
River, including the Green River, North River, 8
South River, Clesson Brook, Chickley River, 9
Cold River, Gulf Brook, Bog Brook, and Dun-10
bar Brook.’’; and 11
(2) in subsection (b), by adding at the end the 12
following: 13
‘‘(24) D
EERFIELD RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS AND 14
VERMONT.—Not later than 3 years after the date on 15
which funds are made available to carry out this 16
paragraph, the Secretary of the Interior shall— 17
‘‘(A) complete the study described in sub-18
section (a)(147); and 19
‘‘(B) submit to the appropriate committees 20
of Congress a report describing the results of 21
such study.’’. 22
