35 | 35 | | Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 7801); 8 |

37 | 37 | | ‘‘(2) the term ‘local educational agency’ has the 10 |

38 | 38 | | meaning given such term under section 8101 of the 11 |

42 | 42 | | RANTAUTHORIZATION.—Subject to the avail-14 |

43 | 43 | | ability of appropriations, the Attorney General shall make 15 |

44 | 44 | | a grant to each State that elects to receive a grant under 16 |
---|
45 | 45 | | this section for the cost of assigning armed law enforce-17 |
---|
46 | 46 | | ment officers to provide security at K–12 schools, which 18 |
---|
47 | 47 | | may be used for the cost of pay, training, and equipment 19 |
---|
48 | 48 | | for the law enforcement officers. 20 |

50 | 50 | | MOUNT.—A grant under this section to a State 21 |
---|
51 | 51 | | for a fiscal year shall be in an amount that bears the same 22 |
---|
52 | 52 | | ratio to the total amount awarded under this section for 23 |
---|
53 | 53 | | the fiscal year as the total number of individuals attending 24 |
---|
54 | 54 | | a K–12 school in the State bears to the total number of 25 |
---|
55 | 55 | | individuals attending a K–12 school in the United States. 26 |

80 | 80 | | the jurisdiction of the agency, or with the local 18 |

81 | 81 | | educational agency that serves such K–12 19 |
---|
82 | 82 | | school, which shall indicate the number of law 20 |

83 | 83 | | enforcement officers the law enforcement agen-21 |
---|
84 | 84 | | cy will hire and assign to each such K–12 22 |

85 | 85 | | school if awarded a subgrant. 23 |
