AN ACT
To amend the Wildfire Suppression Aircraft Transfer Act
of 1996 to reauthorize the sale by the Department of
Defense of aircraft and parts for wildfire suppression
purposes, and for other purposes.

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 1
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Aerial Firefighting En-2
hancement Act of 2025’’. 3
SEC. 2. MODIFICATION AND REAUTHORIZATION OF AU-4
THORITY FOR SALE BY DEPARTMENT OF DE-5
FENSE OF AIRCRAFT AND PARTS FOR WILD-6
FIRE SUPPRESSION PURPOSES. 7
Section 2 of the Wildfire Suppression Aircraft Trans-8
fer Act of 1996 (Public Law 104–307; 10 U.S.C. 2576 9
note) is amended— 10
(1) in subsection (a)(1)— 11
(A) by striking ‘‘a period’’ and inserting 12
‘‘the period’’; and 13
(B) by inserting ‘‘or water’’ after ‘‘fire re-14
tardant’’; 15
(2) in subsection (b), by striking ‘‘sold under 16
subsection (a)’’ and all that follows through the pe-17
riod at the end and inserting ‘‘sold under subsection 18
(a) may be used only for the provision of aircraft 19
services for wildfire suppression purposes.’’; 20
(3) in subsection (c), by inserting ‘‘or water’’ 21
after ‘‘fire retardant’’; 22
(4) in subsection (d)(1), in the second sentence, 23
by striking ‘‘subsection (a)(1)’’ and inserting ‘‘sub-24
section (g)’’; and 25 3

(5) by striking subsection (g) and inserting the 1
following: 2
‘‘(g) P
ERIOD FOREXERCISE OFAUTHORITY.—The 3
period specified in this subsection is the period beginning 4
on the date of the enactment of the Aerial Firefighting 5
Enhancement Act of 2025 and ending on October 1, 6
2035.’’. 7
