To modify eligibility requirements for amateur sports
governing organizations.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Protection of Women 4
in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act’’. 5
SEC. 2. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS. 6
(a) D
EFINITION.—Section 220501(b) of title 36, 7
United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the 8
following: 9
‘‘(13) ‘female’ means an individual who has, 10
had, will have—or would have, but for a develop-11

mental or genetic anomaly or historical accident— 1
the reproductive system that at some point produces, 2
transports, and utilizes eggs for fertilization. 3
‘‘(14) ‘male’ means an individual who has, had, 4
will have—or would have, but for a developmental or 5
genetic anomaly or historical accident—the repro-6
ductive system that at some point produces, trans-7
ports, and utilizes sperm for fertilization. 8
‘‘(15) ‘sex’ means an individual’s biological sex, 9
either male or female.’’. 10
(b) E
LIGIBILITY.—Section 220522 of title 36, United 11
States Code, is amended— 12
(1) in paragraph (18), by striking ‘‘and’’ at the 13
end; 14
(2) in paragraph (19), by striking the period 15
and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and 16
(3) by adding at the end the following: 17
‘‘(20) prohibits a person whose sex is male from 18
participating in an amateur athletic competition that 19
is designated for females, women, or girls.’’. 20
