DRONE COUNTERMEASURES TO PROTECT EVENTS. 1 Section 210G of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 2 (6 U.S.C. 124n) is amended by adding at the end the fol-3 lowing: 4 ‘‘(m) S TADIUMSECURITY.— 5 ‘‘(1) I N GENERAL.—The Secretary or the Attor-6 ney General may deputize a State or local law en-7 forcement officer to exercise the authority granted 8 by subsection (a), except that the authority is grant-9 ed solely for the purpose of protecting— 10 ‘‘(A) a site with respect to which a flight 11 restriction is maintained pursuant to section 12 521 of division F of the Consolidated Appro-13 priations Act, 2004 (49 U.S.C. 40103 note); 14 ‘‘(B) the location of an eligible large public 15 gathering described in section 44812(c) of title 16 49, United States Code; or 17 ‘‘(C) a public gathering otherwise pro-18 tected by a temporary flight restriction, at the 19 discretion of the Administrator of the Federal 20 Aviation Administration under the authority of 21 section 40103(b) of title 49, United States 22 Code. 23 ‘‘(2) T RAINING REQUIRED.—The Secretary or 24 the Attorney General may deputize only a State or 25 local law enforcement officer that has completed 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:52 Mar 08, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S663.IS S663 kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB 3 •S 663 IS training in the use of the authority described in 1 paragraph (1), as specified by the Secretary or At-2 torney General in coordination with the Secretary of 3 Transportation and the Administrator of the Federal 4 Aviation Administration. 5 ‘‘(3) O VERSIGHT.—The Secretary or the Attor-6 ney General, in coordination with the Secretary of 7 Transportation and the Administrator of the Federal 8 Aviation Administration, shall exercise oversight of 9 the use of the authority described in paragraph (1) 10 by a deputized State or local law enforcement offi-11 cer. 12 ‘‘(4) A UTHORIZED EQUIPMENT .—Equipment 13 authorized for unmanned aircraft system detection, 14 identification, monitoring, or tracking under this 15 subsection shall be limited to systems or technologies 16 that are included on a list of authorized equipment 17 maintained by the Department, in coordination with 18 the Department of Justice, the Federal Aviation Ad-19 ministration, the Federal Communications Commis-20 sion, and the National Telecommunications and In-21 formation Administration.’’. 22 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 03:52 Mar 08, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\S663.IS S663 kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB
