| 32 | 32 | | NGENERAL.—Except as provided in subsection 2 |

| 33 | 33 | | (b), in this Act, the term ‘‘sanctuary jurisdiction’’ means 3 |

| 34 | 34 | | any State or political subdivision of a State that has in 4 |

| 35 | 35 | | effect a statute, ordinance, policy, or practice that pro-5 |

| 36 | 36 | | hibits or restricts any government entity or official from— 6 |

| 37 | 37 | | (1) sending, receiving, maintaining, or exchang-7 |

| 38 | 38 | | ing with any Federal, State, or local government en-8 |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | tity information regarding the citizenship or immi-9 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | gration status (lawful or unlawful) of any individual; 10 |
|---|

|---|
| 42 | 42 | | (2) complying with a request lawfully made by 12 |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | the Secretary of Homeland Security under section 13 |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | 236 or 287 of the Immigration and Nationality Act 14 |

| 50 | 50 | | a sanctuary jurisdiction based solely on the State or polit-19 |

| 51 | 51 | | ical subdivision of a State having a policy under which 20 |

| 52 | 52 | | officials of the State or political subdivision of a State will 21 |

| 53 | 53 | | not share information with respect to, or comply with a 22 |
|---|

| 73 | 73 | | the immigration laws (as defined in section 101 of the Im-14 |
|---|
| 74 | 74 | | migration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101)). 15 |

| 75 | 75 | | SEC. 4. REPORT ON NONCOMPLIANCE. 16 |

| 76 | 76 | | Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment 17 |
