11	11	which was considered and agreed to
12	12	RESOLUTION
13	13	Supporting the contributions of Catholic schools in the
14	14	United States and celebrating the 51st annual National
15	15	Catholic Schools Week.
16	16	Whereas Catholic schools in the United States are inter-
17	17	nationally acclaimed for their academic excellence and
18	18	provide approximately 1,700,000 students with more
19	19	than an exceptional scholastic education;
20	20	Whereas Catholic schools instill a broad, values-added edu-
21	21	cation emphasizing the lifelong development of moral, in-
22	22	tellectual, physical, and social values in young people in
23	23	the United States;
24	24	Whereas Catholic schools serve the United States by pro-
25	25	viding a diverse student population from all regions of
26	26	the United States and all socioeconomic backgrounds
27	27	with a strong academic and moral foundation, including

31	31	29.4 percent of students from racial minority back-
32	32	grounds, 18.8 percent from Hispanic heritage, and 20.8
33	33	percent from non-Catholic families, according to the
34	34	2023–2024 National Catholic Education Association sur-
35	35	vey of elementary and secondary Catholic schools in the
36	36	United States;
37	37	Whereas Catholic schools are an affordable option for par-
38	38	ents, particularly in underserved urban areas;
39	39	Whereas Catholic schools produce students who are strongly
40	40	dedicated to their faith, values, families, and communities
41	41	by providing an intellectually stimulating environment
42	42	that promotes spiritual, character, and moral develop-
43	43	ment;
44	44	Whereas Catholic schools are committed to community serv-
45	45	ice, producing graduates who hold ‘‘helping others’’
46	46	among their core values;
47	47	Whereas the total Catholic school student enrollment for the
48	48	2023–2024 academic year is 1,700,000, and the student-
49	49	teacher ratio is 10 to 1, according to the 2023–2024 Na-
50	50	tional Catholic Education Association survey of elemen-
51	51	tary and secondary Catholic schools in the United States;
52	52	Whereas the Catholic high school graduation rate is 98.9 per-
53	53	cent, with 85.2 percent of graduates attending 4-year col-
54	54	leges;
55	55	Whereas the week of January 26, 2025, to February 1, 2025,
56	56	has been designated as ‘‘National Catholic Schools
57	57	Week’’ by the National Catholic Educational Association
58	58	and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops;
59	59	and
60	60	Whereas the theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2025
61	61	is ‘‘Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community’’,

65	65	which reflects the fact that Catholic schools, united in
66	66	their faith, expand beyond the walls of the classroom to
67	67	envelop the parents and families of students as integral
68	68	parts of the school community: Now, therefore, be it
69	69	Resolved, That the Senate— 1
70	70	(1) supports the goals of National Catholic 2
71	71	Schools Week, an event— 3
72	72	(A) cosponsored by the National Catholic 4
73	73	Educational Association and the United States 5
74	74	Conference of Catholic Bishops; and 6
75	75	(B) established to recognize the vital con-7
76	76	tributions of the thousands of Catholic elemen-8
77	77	tary and secondary schools in the United 9
78	78	States; 10
79	79	(2) applauds the National Catholic Educational 11
80	80	Association and the United States Conference of 12
81	81	Catholic Bishops on their selection of the theme 13
82	82	‘‘Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Commu-14
83	83	nity’’, which is a theme that all can celebrate; and 15
84	84	(3) supports— 16
85	85	(A) the dedication of Catholic schools, stu-17
86	86	dents, parents, and teachers across the United 18
87	87	States toward academic excellence; and 19
