1313 Supporting the contributions of Catholic schools in the
1414 United States and celebrating the 51st annual National
1515 Catholic Schools Week.
1616 Whereas Catholic schools in the United States are inter-
1717 nationally acclaimed for their academic excellence and
1818 provide approximately 1,700,000 students with more
1919 than an exceptional scholastic education;
2020 Whereas Catholic schools instill a broad, values-added edu-
2121 cation emphasizing the lifelong development of moral, in-
2222 tellectual, physical, and social values in young people in
2323 the United States;
2424 Whereas Catholic schools serve the United States by pro-
2525 viding a diverse student population from all regions of
2626 the United States and all socioeconomic backgrounds
2727 with a strong academic and moral foundation, including

3131 29.4 percent of students from racial minority back-
3232 grounds, 18.8 percent from Hispanic heritage, and 20.8
3333 percent from non-Catholic families, according to the
3434 2023–2024 National Catholic Education Association sur-
3535 vey of elementary and secondary Catholic schools in the
3636 United States;
3737 Whereas Catholic schools are an affordable option for par-
3838 ents, particularly in underserved urban areas;
3939 Whereas Catholic schools produce students who are strongly
4040 dedicated to their faith, values, families, and communities
4141 by providing an intellectually stimulating environment
4242 that promotes spiritual, character, and moral develop-
4343 ment;
4444 Whereas Catholic schools are committed to community serv-
4545 ice, producing graduates who hold ‘‘helping others’’
4646 among their core values;
4747 Whereas the total Catholic school student enrollment for the
4848 2023–2024 academic year is 1,700,000, and the student-
4949 teacher ratio is 10 to 1, according to the 2023–2024 Na-
5050 tional Catholic Education Association survey of elemen-
5151 tary and secondary Catholic schools in the United States;
5252 Whereas the Catholic high school graduation rate is 98.9 per-
5353 cent, with 85.2 percent of graduates attending 4-year col-
5454 leges;
5555 Whereas the week of January 26, 2025, to February 1, 2025,
5656 has been designated as ‘‘National Catholic Schools
5757 Week’’ by the National Catholic Educational Association
5858 and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops;
5959 and
6060 Whereas the theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2025
6161 is ‘‘Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community’’,

6969 Resolved, That the Senate— 1
7070 (1) supports the goals of National Catholic 2
7171 Schools Week, an event— 3
7272 (A) cosponsored by the National Catholic 4
7373 Educational Association and the United States 5
7474 Conference of Catholic Bishops; and 6
7575 (B) established to recognize the vital con-7
7676 tributions of the thousands of Catholic elemen-8
7777 tary and secondary schools in the United 9
7878 States; 10
7979 (2) applauds the National Catholic Educational 11
8080 Association and the United States Conference of 12
8181 Catholic Bishops on their selection of the theme 13
8282 ‘‘Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Commu-14
8383 nity’’, which is a theme that all can celebrate; and 15
8484 (3) supports— 16
8585 (A) the dedication of Catholic schools, stu-17
8686 dents, parents, and teachers across the United 18
8787 States toward academic excellence; and 19
