2121 Designating the week of February 24 through February 28,
2222 2025, as ‘‘Public Schools Week’’.
2323 Whereas public education is a significant institution in a
2424 21st-century democracy;
2525 Whereas public schools in the United States educate students
2626 about the values and beliefs that hold the individuals of
2727 the United States together as a nation;
2828 Whereas public schools prepare young individuals of the
2929 United States to contribute to the society, economy, and
3030 citizenry of the country;
3131 Whereas 87 percent of children in the United States attend
3232 public schools;

3636 Whereas Federal, State, and local lawmakers should—
3737 (1) prioritize support for strengthening the public
3838 schools of the United States;
3939 (2) empower superintendents, principals, and other
4040 school leaders to implement, manage, and lead school dis-
4141 tricts and schools in partnership with educators, parents,
4242 and other local education stakeholders; and
4343 (3) support services and programs that are critical
4444 to helping students engage in learning, including coun-
4545 seling, extracurricular activities, and mental health sup-
4646 port;
4747 Whereas public schools should foster inclusive, safe, and high-
4848 quality environments in which children can learn to think
4949 critically, problem solve, and build relationships;
5050 Whereas public schools should provide environments in which
5151 all students have the opportunity to succeed beginning in
5252 their earliest years, regardless of who a student is or
5353 where a student lives;
5454 Whereas Congress should support—
5555 (1) efforts to advance equal opportunity and excel-
5656 lence in public education;
5757 (2) efforts to implement evidence-based practices in
5858 public education; and
5959 (3) continuous improvements to public education;
6060 Whereas every child should—
6161 (1) receive an education that helps the child reach
6262 the full potential of the child; and
6363 (2) attend a school that offers a high-quality edu-
6464 cational experience;
6565 Whereas Federal funding, in addition to State and local
6666 funds, supports the access of students to inviting class-

7070 rooms, well-prepared educators, and services to support
7171 healthy students, including nutrition and afterschool pro-
7272 grams;
7373 Whereas teachers, paraprofessionals, and principals should
7474 provide students with a well-rounded education and strive
7575 to create joy in learning;
7676 Whereas superintendents, principals, other school leaders,
7777 teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents make public
7878 schools vital components of communities and are working
7979 hard to improve educational outcomes for children across
8080 the country; and
8181 Whereas the week of February 24 through February 28,
8282 2025, is an appropriate period to designate as ‘‘Public
8383 Schools Week’’: Now, therefore, be it
8484 Resolved, That the Senate designates the week of 1
8585 February 24 through February 28, 2025 as ‘‘Public 2
8686 Schools Week’’. 3
