3535 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:

3737 WHEREAS, the state of Utah wishes to recognize the start of the American Revolution and

3939 honor this date as Patriots' Day;

4141 WHEREAS, on the evening of April 18, 1775, Dr. Joseph Warren called to his house in

4343 Boston both William Dawes and Paul Revere and instructed them that British soldiers would

4545 be leaving Boston by sea to apprehend patriot leaders Sam Adams and John Hancock in

4747 Lexington and to confiscate stored arms in Concord;

4949 WHEREAS, the local militia volunteers, distinguished by the term "Minutemen," having

5151 been notified through the night of the approaching British soldiers, stood their ground on the

5353 Lexington Green as the King's soldiers approached;

5555 WHEREAS, in the early dawn of April 19, 1775, on the Lexington Green, a shot was fired

5757 that signaled the start of the American Revolution and came to be known as "The Shot Heard
