Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.2-2305.2 as follows:
§15.2-2305.2. Affordable dwelling unit ordinances; accessible units.
Any locality that has adopted an affordable dwelling unit ordinance pursuant to §15.2-2304, 15.2-2305, or 15.2-2305.1 may require under such ordinance that a set percentage of the units built by a developer are compliant with the appropriate requirements of the American National Standards for Building and Facilities for Type A units (commonly cited as "ANSI A117.1") or with any other standards adopted as part of regulations promulgated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development providing accessibility and usability for persons with a physical disability.
