11 | 11 | | A. The Board shall have a total membership of 20 members that shall consist of 15 nonlegislative citizen members and five ex officio members. Nonlegislative citizen members shall be appointed by the Governor for a term of four years, subject to confirmation by the General Assembly, and shall include three social workers specializing in policy and planning; two community, administrative, and research social workers; two medical or geriatric social workers; two social workers specializing in mental health and substance use; two child and family social workers; a military social worker; a justice and corrections social worker; a school social worker; and a social work educator working in a higher education setting. Nonlegislative citizen members shall have a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in social work from a college or university social work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Each nonlegislative citizen member shall be a citizen of the Commonwealth and shall be a member of at least one of the following organizations: the Council on Social Work Education, the Latino Social Workers Organization, the National Association of Social Workers, the National Association of Black Social Workers, the Society for Social Work and Research, or the Virginia Association of School Social Workers or a faculty member of a college or university in the Commonwealth that is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. |

Appointments to fill vacancies, other than by expiration of a term, shall be for the unexpired terms. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointments. No nonlegislative citizen member shall serve more than two consecutive four-year terms.
