HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 432
Commending the Christiansburg High School softball team.

WHEREAS, in June 2024, the Christiansburg High School softball team capped off a historic season by winning the program's first-ever state title in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship; and
WHEREAS, the Christiansburg High School Blue Demons finished the season with an impressive 243 record and also won their first district title and first regional title; and
WHEREAS, in the state final, the Christiansburg Blue Demons defeated the Turner Ashby High School Knights by a score of 63 in eight innings; and
WHEREAS, while the Christiansburg Blue Demons scored first, the Turner Ashby Knights pulled ahead in the third inning and held the lead until the top of the seventh inning, when a hit to center field by Christiansburg infielder Makaylee Hughes resulted in two runs; and
WHEREAS, the Turner Ashby Knights responded with another run to send the game to extra innings, but the Christiansburg Blue Demons dominated the final stretch of the game, scoring three runs to seal the win; and
WHEREAS, the successful season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family, friends, and the entire Christiansburg High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Christiansburg High School softball team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2024; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Seann Gaynor, head coach of the Christiansburg High School softball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
