HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 456
Commending the Auburn High School girls' soccer team.

WHEREAS, the Auburn High School girls' soccer team won the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship in June 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Auburn High School Eagles rallied from an early two-goal deficit and defeated the Northumberland High School Indians by a score of 62; and
WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles finished the season with an impressive 194 overall record, including a perfect 130 record against the other members of the Mountain Empire Region; and
WHEREAS, Auburn midfielder Katie Light recorded 49 goals and 16 assists during her senior season and was selected as the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 1 Player of the Year, while Auburn's Adam Ritchie was selected as the VHSL Class 1 Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family members, friends, and the entire Auburn High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Auburn High School girls' soccer team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship in 2024; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Adam Ritchie, head coach of the Auburn High School girls' soccer team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's athletic achievements.
