HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 488

Commending Maurice Moody.

WHEREAS, Maurice Moody, a longtime leader of the Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company in Orange County, received the Regional Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rappahannock Emergency Medical Services Council in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bud Moody served in nearly every role with the Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company during his emergency medical services (EMS) career, including as rescue chief, assistant chief, deputy chief, and member of the board of directors; and

WHEREAS, Bud Moody's leadership was integral to the growth and success of the Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company over the years and to the agency's ability to operate effectively and efficiently in the face of various challenges; and

WHEREAS, Bud Moody was influential in the regional EMS community as Orange County's representative on the Rappahannock EMS Council's Board of Directors for 12 years, where he was closely involved with a number of committees and regional initiatives, including the council's response to the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Bud Moody embarked upon his EMS career by acquiring his advanced emergency medical technician certification, and he demonstrated his devotion to delivering the highest standard of care throughout his career by regularly improving his skills through additional training courses; and

WHEREAS, Bud Moody's selfless dedication and service helped to make the Lake of the Woods community in Orange County a safer place for all, earning him the praise and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Maurice Moody for receiving the 2024 Regional Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rappahannock Emergency Medical Services Council; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Maurice Moody as an expression of the General Assembly's high regard for his exemplary emergency medical services career and for his contributions to Orange County and the Commonwealth.
