HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 506

Commending the Culpeper Sheriff's Office.

WHEREAS, for 275 years, the Culpeper Sheriff's Office has provided a vital service by protecting and safeguarding the Culpeper community; and

WHEREAS, the Culpeper Sheriff's Office was established in 1749 and has witnessed the birth and evolution of the United States, while always remaining a source of stability and strength in the community; and

WHEREAS, the Culpeper Sheriff's Office has adapted over the generations to meet the needs of the community, incorporating new technology, services, and practices to promote the safety and well-being of Culpeper; and

WHEREAS, responsibilities of the Culpeper Sheriff's Office include investigating crimes, pursuing offenders, making arrests, operating the local jail, managing various local corrections programs, assisting with the transport of criminal defendants between facilities, and executing court judgments; and

WHEREAS, in honor of 275 years of dedicated service, the Culpeper Sheriff's Office has produced a commemorative patch based on the agency's original patch design; and

WHEREAS, the Culpeper Sheriff's Office has exemplified the highest virtues of the law-enforcement profession through its commitment to ensuring public safety, advancing partnerships in the community, and maintaining the highest standards of accountability and excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Culpeper Sheriff's Office on the occasion of its 275th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Culpeper Sheriff's Office as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for its contributions to the Commonwealth.
