1519 WHEREAS, Sandra Davis, retired owner of BCR Property Management and a noted transportation advocate and community leader in the New River Valley region, was presented the Citizen of the Valley award by the New River Valley Regional Commission at the Floyd Center for the Arts on October 9, 2024; and

1721 WHEREAS, Sandra Davis has generously supported numerous philanthropic endeavors at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University over the years and served as chair of the board of directors of both the Virginia Tech Foundation and the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund, and she is currently a member of the school's Board of Visitors; and

1923 WHEREAS, in recognition of her dedication to Virginia Tech, Sandra Davis received lifetime, honorary membership in the Virginia Tech Alumni Association in 2007 and the William H. Ruffner Medal, the school's highest honor, in 2015, while the Street and Davis Performance Hall within the Moss Arts Center was named in her honor; and

2125 WHEREAS, Sandra Davis's devotion to the New River Valley region is evident through her work with the Radford University Board of Trustees, the Blacksburg Partnership, and the New River Valley Friends of the Roanoke Symphony and as a founding member of the Taubman Museum Board of Directors; and

2327 WHEREAS, the New River Valley Regional Commission (NRVRC), comprising the Counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski and the City of Radford, recognized Sandra Davis's efforts as a leader of the campaign to bring rail service back to the New River Valley region, including her work as co-chair of the advocacy group NRV Passenger Rail; and

2529 WHEREAS, through both her philanthropy and advocacy, Sandra Davis has made a positive and lasting imprint on the New River Valley region and is deserving of the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

2731 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Sandra Davis for being named a 2024 Citizen of the Valley by the New River Valley Regional Commission; and, be it

2933 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sandra Davis as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
