1519 WHEREAS, for three decades, the Lackey Clinic has provided compassionate health care, counseling, and assistance to underinsured or uninsured residents of York County; and

1721 WHEREAS, originally located in the basement of Rising Sun Baptist Church, the Lackey Clinic was established in 1995 by Jim and Cooka Shaw, who were guided by their faith to open a free medical clinic for members of the community in need; and

19-WHEREAS, the Lackey Clinic subsequently operated out of the Charles Brown Community Center, then moved to a stand-alone location in 2003 to better meet the growing demand for its vital services; and

2125 WHEREAS, the Lackey Clinic further expanded its services by opening a pharmacy, a dental clinic, and the Commonwealth's first free chronic-care clinic for people with diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and other chronic conditions; and

2327 WHEREAS, the Lackey Clinic now maintains a 10,000-square-foot facility, where nearly 30 full-time and part-time employees, as well as hundreds of hardworking volunteers, provide a wide range of medical services; and

2529 WHEREAS, the Lackey Clinic is committed to providing holistic care that heals the mind, body, and spirit and treats every patient with the utmost dignity and respect regardless of race, background, faith, or financial circumstances; and

2731 WHEREAS, over the course of its history, the Lackey Clinic has touched countless lives, uplifting those in need while helping to build a stronger, healthier community; now, therefore, be it

2933 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Lackey Clinic on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and, be it

3135 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Lackey Clinic as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the clinic's longstanding commitment to the health and wellness of the residents of York County.
