Commending The Arc of Greater Williamsburg.

WHEREAS, for nearly 50 years, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg has worked diligently to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families through education, support, and community activities; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg was established in July 1976 by a group of parents of children with developmental disabilities and is now one of more than 630 Arc chapters across the United States; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg has touched countless lives in the Williamsburg area by ensuring the health and wellness of its clients and providing educational, cultural, social, and recreational enrichment; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg serves young adults who have aged out of the public school system by conducting a day program that offers continuing education, life skills, and vocational training; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg also connects clients to employment opportunities through Wheels4Work and provides regular activities to further enhance clients' quality of life and allow them to improve their abilities; and
WHEREAS, by providing a sense of hope and opportunities for personal growth, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg has helped countless individuals with developmental disabilities in the region lead more fulfilling lives; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Greater Williamsburg has succeeded in its mission through the leadership and dedication of its staff members, the hard work of hundreds of volunteers, and generous support from community partners; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend The Arc of Greater Williamsburg for nearly 50 years of service to the community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to The Arc of Greater Williamsburg as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's commitment to ensuring that residents of Williamsburg with developmental disabilities remain active and engaged members of the community.
