1519 WHEREAS, for 50 years, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council has provided strategic workforce development solutions to help connect local businesses with qualified workers and further enhance the region's vibrant economy; and

1721 WHEREAS, established by the Hampton Roads Workforce Development Board, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council oversees federally funded workforce development programs and supports economic empowerment for all by promoting training opportunities for job seekers; and

1923 WHEREAS, over the course of its history, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council has expanded its initiatives to meet the needs of emerging industries and in-demand occupations; and

2125 WHEREAS, with innovative programs like the Hampton Roads Veterans Employment Center, Virginia Career Works, Hampton Roads Regional Apprenticeship Hub, and Regional Maritime Training System, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council is uniquely positioned to address the current and future needs of the region; and

2327 WHEREAS, to fulfill its mission, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council has built partnerships with workforce and economic development stakeholders, business and industry leaders, education and training providers, the military, and community members; and

2529 WHEREAS, in 2021, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council merged with the Greater Peninsula Workforce Board, creating the largest workforce development board in the Commonwealth, supporting 17 localities across the region; now, therefore, be it

2731 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Hampton Roads Workforce Council on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

2933 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Hampton Roads Workforce Council as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's important contributions to economic development in Hampton Roads.
