HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 602
Commending Hadley Nicole Husisian.

WHEREAS, Oakton native Hadley Nicole Husisian represented the Commonwealth at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, France, competing for Team USA in the women's pe individual and women's pe team events; and
WHEREAS, Hadley Husisian was inspired to take up fencing at a young age after watching a fencing-themed episode of the Nickelodeon television show iCarly; and
WHEREAS, from 2019 through 2022, while she was a student at the Potomac School in McLean, Hadley Husisian was ranked as the number one fencer in U.S. Junior Women's pe, and in 2022 and 2023, she became the first male or female Team USA athlete to win consecutive individual pe titles at the Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships; and
WHEREAS, after matriculating at Princeton University, Hadley Husisian continued to earn accolades as an All-Ivy League and All-American athlete during her freshman year, winning several National Collegiate Athletics Association matches, as well as international competitions; and
WHEREAS, upon her selection as a member of Team USA, Hadley Husisian became the 18th fencer from Princeton University in school history to qualify for the Summer Olympics; and
WHEREAS, in her Olympic debut at Paris 2024, Hadley Husisian finished in 12th place in the women's pe individual event and in seventh place in the women's pe team event; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her athletic career, Hadley Husisian has given back to her community through numerous charitable activities; she established the Ton of Food drive, which has collected thousands of pounds of food and monetary donations for people in need; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Hadley Nicole Husisian for representing the Commonwealth at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in 2024; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Hadley Nicole Husisian as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her outstanding athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
