2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 607 Commending Thomas Heilman. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 10, 2025 Agreed to by the Senate, February 13, 2025 WHEREAS, in 2024, Thomas Heilman of Crozet represented the Commonwealth at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, France, winning a silver medal for Team USA in the 4x100-meter men's medley relay event; and WHEREAS, at the age of 17, Thomas Heilman became the youngest male swimmer to qualify for the United States Olympic team since Michael Phelps; and WHEREAS, Thomas Heilman qualified to swim in the 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly events at the 2024 Summer Olympics and placed 18th and 10th in those events, respectively; and WHEREAS, Thomas Heilman earned a silver medal by swimming the fly leg in the preliminary 4x100-meter men's medley relay, which helped the team qualify for the finals in that event later in the competition; and WHEREAS, Thomas Heilman is a senior at Western Albemarle High School in Crozet and actively trains with the Cavalier Aquatics swim team based in Charlottesville; and WHEREAS, in the fall of 2025, Thomas Heilman will enroll at the University of Virginia and compete with the University of Virginia swim and dive team, contributing to the school's distinguished legacy in the sport; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Thomas Heilman on winning a silver medal at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in 2024; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thomas Heilman as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his outstanding athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
