2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 611 Commending the City of Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 10, 2025 Agreed to by the Senate, February 13, 2025 WHEREAS, for 20 years, the City of Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program has provided citizens with ample opportunities to support worthy causes that contribute to the vibrancy and well-being of their community; and WHEREAS, the Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program enables citizens to foster the arts and culture of Roanoke by facilitating their ability to volunteer with local programs such as the Roanoke Arts Commission and public libraries in the area; and WHEREAS, the Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program spearheads beautification efforts in Roanoke by recruiting volunteers to assist the Adopt-a-Park Program, the Adopt-a-Street Program, trail work, the Greenway Ambassadors program, and the Clean Valley Council; and WHEREAS, the Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program promotes responsible environmental stewardship by enlisting volunteers for the Roanoke Parks and Recreation Urban Forestry division's tree steward training and the Clean Valley Council's Roanoke Citizen Science Water Monitoring Program; and WHEREAS, volunteering with the Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program enriches participants' lives by enabling them to make a difference in their community while learning more about the city they call home; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program are the result of the generosity and selflessness of its volunteers, who have helped to make Roanoke a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the City of Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to representatives of the City of Roanoke Municipal Volunteer Program as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the program's contributions to Roanoke and the Commonwealth.
