2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 613 Commending LaKisha Kyle. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 10, 2025 Agreed to by the Senate, February 13, 2025 WHEREAS, LaKisha Kyle, an esteemed educator who teaches business and principles of marketing, digital applications, and computer information systems at Forest Park Academy in Roanoke, was named the Roanoke City Public Schools' Teacher of the Year in 2025; and WHEREAS, after serving as a long-term substitute teacher for multiple years, LaKisha Kyle discovered her gift and passion for teaching and joined Roanoke City Public Schools; and WHEREAS, LaKisha Kyle applies modified, inclusive teaching methods to engage her students, inspire in them a love for learning, and ensure their academic, social, and emotional well-being; and WHEREAS, LaKisha Kyle consistently emphasizes workplace readiness to foster a learning environment that supports the development of her students' critical thinking and interpersonal skills; and WHEREAS, the foundation to LaKisha Kyle's success as an educator is her ability to motivate her students and empower them to reach their full potential; and WHEREAS, LaKisha Kyle was selected for the Roanoke City Public Schools' prestigious honor by a committee that included school system employees, retirees, and last year's Teacher of the Year honoree; and WHEREAS, by demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her student's success and working tirelessly for their benefit, LaKisha Kyle has embodied the highest ideals of the teaching profession and is deserving of the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend LaKisha Kyle for being named Roanoke City Public Schools' Teacher of the Year in 2025; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to LaKisha Kyle as an expression of the General Assembly's high regard for her legacy of service as an educator to the Commonwealth's young people.
