2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 631 Celebrating the life of Carolyn Powell Crist. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 17, 2025 Agreed to by the Senate, February 19, 2025 WHEREAS, Carolyn Powell Crist, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend in Lynchburg, died on November 29, 2024; and WHEREAS, Carolyn Crist grew up in the Madison Heights community of Amherst County, where she met her first boyfriend and future husband, Mike; and WHEREAS, after graduating from high school, Carolyn and Mike Crist continued dating while he served the nation as a member of the United States Navy; they subsequently married and settled into their first home on Leesville Road in Madison Heights; and WHEREAS, over the course of her professional career, Carolyn Crist worked for H.K. Porter, Gould Electronics, and SunTrust Banks, inspiring coworkers through her poise, grace, joyful presence, and skill with numbers; and WHEREAS, Carolyn Crist's proudest accomplishments were those as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and she relished every opportunity to spend time with her family and impart to them her wisdom and kindness; and WHEREAS, Carolyn Crist will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 53 years, Mike; her sons, Steve and Greg, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Carolyn Powell Crist, a highly admired member of the Lynchburg community; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Carolyn Powell Crist as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
