2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 699 Celebrating the life of Cheryl Hydrick Guedri. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025 Agreed to by the Senate, February 20, 2025 WHEREAS, Cheryl Hydrick Guedri, a beloved wife and mother whose kindness and commitment to service enriched countless lives in the Richmond region, died on July 16, 2024; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri grew up in Richmond and graduated from J.R. Tucker High School, where she was a cheerleader, school mascot, and writer and editor on the school newspaper; during her high school years, she was also the youngest delegate to attend the 1972 Virginia State Democratic Convention; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri studied at what is now Mary Baldwin University, then transferred to the University of Virginia, from which she ultimately earned a bachelor's degree in economics; and WHEREAS, after graduating with honors, Cheryl Guedri married her college sweetheart, Chris, and returned to Richmond; she worked as a loan officer while pursuing a master's degree from an evening program at Virginia Commonwealth University, then accepted a position at Crestar Bank, now Truist Bank, as a commercial loan analyst; and WHEREAS, outside of her career, Cheryl Guedri donated her time and talents to several nonprofit organizations, including the Peter Paul Development Center and the Virginia Science Museum; she also served as a court appointed special advocate for children in the legal system and as a tutor at the Anna Julia Cooper School; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri inspired others through her generosity and zest for life, and she made lifelong friendships as a member of the Tuckahoe Woman's Club as well as her book club and bridge group; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Saint James's Episcopal Church, where she chaired the annual pledge committee for five years and was a member of the vestry for three years; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri was a devoted mother to her son, Ross, taking an active role in his schooling and attending countless baseball, basketball, and lacrosse games over the years, and in later life, she cherished every moment with her beloved grandchildren, Conner and Amelia; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri was an accomplished traveler who explored every corner of the United States and visited Canada, Russia, New Zealand, and Australia, along with several countries in Europe, South America, and Asia; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Guedri will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Chris; her son, Ross, and his family; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Cheryl Hydrick Guedri, a highly admired member of the Richmond community; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Cheryl Hydrick Guedri as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
