2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 708 Celebrating the life of Cloyd Kent Titus, M.D. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025 Agreed to by the Senate, February 20, 2025 WHEREAS, Cloyd Kent Titus, M.D., a dedicated physician who served generations of Richmond residents, died on October 18, 2024; and WHEREAS, Kent Titus was born in Richmond, but spent much of his youth in his father's hometown of Binghamton, New York; and WHEREAS, Kent Titus graduated from Williams College, where he was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity and the Gargoyle Society, then earned a medical degree from the University of Virginia; and WHEREAS, Kent Titus served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for two years, then studied internal medicine and rheumatology at what is now the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine; and WHEREAS, Kent Titus joined Grove Avenue Primary Care, where he worked with a devoted group of doctors, nurses, and staff members to provide the finest care for countless individuals over the course of 43 years; he was well known for his personal integrity, passion for medicine, and commitment to excellence in patient care; and WHEREAS, outside of his career, Kent Titus was a member of the Country Club of Virginia and the American College of Physicians and enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of St. Paul's Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, Kent Titus was an accomplished world traveler who took many trips to Scotland, visited several other European countries, and participated in travel programs to Russia and China through the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; and WHEREAS, Kent Titus will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Sherilyn; his daughters, Austin and Catherine, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Cloyd Kent Titus, M.D., a trusted physician in Richmond; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Cloyd Kent Titus, M.D., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
