1519 WHEREAS, the Virginia Poultry Federation, a nonprofit trade association dedicated to promoting a positive business climate for the poultry and egg industry in the Commonwealth, celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025; and

1721 WHEREAS, in August 1925, a group of poultry farmers and professionals met at what was then the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute, now Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, for the first Poultry Field Day, which led to the founding of the Virginia Poultry Federation, with Thomas L. Rosser as its first president; and

1923 WHEREAS, the Virginia Poultry Federation represents all sectors of the poultry industry, including farmers, processors, and businesses that provide goods and services that facilitate the poultry industry; and

2125 WHEREAS, the Virginia Poultry Federation advances its mission through effective government and public relations, youth programs, and educational activities; and

2327 WHEREAS, today, the Virginia Poultry Federation supports a poultry industry that includes more than 1,000 family-owned farms, directly and indirectly supports more than 60,000 jobs, and contributes more than $17 billion to the economy in the Commonwealth; and

2529 WHEREAS, as the poultry industry in the Commonwealth has evolved over the years, the Virginia Poultry Federation has been a steadfast advocate for policies and initiatives to ensure its success; and

2731 WHEREAS, the extraordinary efforts of the Virginia Poultry Federation have helped the poultry industry to become the largest agricultural industry in the Commonwealth and an important part of local economies and communities throughout Virginia; now, therefore, be it

2933 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Virginia Poultry Federation on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it

3135 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Poultry Federation as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for its contributions to the Commonwealth's poultry industry.
