Celebrating the life of Bobby Gene Atkinson.

WHEREAS, Bobby Gene Atkinson, an honorable veteran and an active and beloved member of the Ringgold community in Pittsylvania County, died on February 7, 2025; and
WHEREAS, born in Ringgold, Bobby Gene Atkinson served his country and the Commonwealth with honor and distinction as a member of the Virginia National Guard; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Gene Atkinson devoted many years during his professional career to the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company and his consulting firm, B & G Consulting; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Gene Atkinson promoted the safety and well-being of the Ringgold community during his 22 years on the board of Ringgold Volunteer Fire & Rescue, including 20 years as chair; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Gene Atkinson's impact was felt throughout Pittsylvania County as a result of his steadfast service with various local organizations; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Gene Atkinson was guided throughout his life by his faith and gave generously of his time to benefit the community through his involvement with Ringgold Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Gene Atkinson will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 68 years, Betty; his children, Bobby Gene, Jr., and Tonya, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Bobby Gene Atkinson, a pillar of the Ringgold community whose dedication and legacy of service inspired all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bobby Gene Atkinson as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
