HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 501
Commending the Tallwood High School boys' outdoor track and field team.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 27, 2025
WHEREAS, the Tallwood High School boys' outdoor track and field team of Virginia Beach won the Virginia High School League Region 5A championship at Salem High School in Virginia Beach on May 22, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Tallwood High School Lions tallied 110 cumulative team points to outpace the runner-up Princess Anne High School Cavaliers of Virginia Beach by 18 points; and
WHEREAS, the Tallwood Lions' victory was a total team effort and the result of many strong performances in various events throughout the two days of competition; and
WHEREAS, the Tallwood Lions sealed the win with several first place finishes from its student-athletes, including Gregory Reeves in the 110-meter hurdles and triple jump events, Zionte Corprew in the 300-meter hurdles event, Landon Walker in the pole vault event, and Jasir Abdullah in the long jump event; and
WHEREAS, the success of the Tallwood Lions is a product of the hard work and determination of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Tallwood High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Tallwood High School boys' outdoor track and field team of Virginia Beach hereby be commended for winning the 2024 Virginia High School League Region 5A championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Tallwood High School boys' outdoor track and field team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievements.
