2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 502 Commending HRE Bakery. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 27, 2025 WHEREAS, HRE Bakery, a Filipino American-owned business in the Windsor Woods neighborhood of Virginia Beach that provides employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, held its grand opening in December 2024; and WHEREAS, owned and operated by Theresa and Alan McMillan, HRE Bakery stands for Happy, Relaxed, and Engaged and serves a wide range of delicious baked goods and sweet treats; and WHEREAS, HRE Bakery helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities become more engaged in the community by providing a supportive environment in which they can learn basic vocational skills; and WHEREAS, HRE Bakery exemplifies the Filipino custom of bayanihan, by building a strong sense of community, cooperation, and mutual assistance; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That HRE Bakery hereby be commended on the occasion of its grand opening; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to HRE Bakery as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its work to strengthen the community and best wishes on future success.
