HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 528
Commending Teach to Reach Teens.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 27, 2025
WHEREAS, Teach to Reach Teens, a nonprofit organization based in Fredericksburg and founded in 2018, is dedicated to promoting scholarship, leadership, partnership, and healthy living among a diverse group of students; and
WHEREAS, under the guidance of founder Robyn Wilson, Teach to Reach Teens encourages youth to engage in community service projects that address local needs and foster intergenerational connections; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the social isolation faced by many seniors in the Mayfield community of Fredericksburg, the members of Teach to Reach Teens conceived and organized a community caf event at the Mayfield Civic Association building on September 23, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Teach to Reach Teens' Community Caf provided seniors with refreshments, health screenings, board games, crafts, prayer, and free hand massages, creating a welcoming environment for social interaction and well-being; and
WHEREAS, the Teach to Reach Teens' event featured partnerships with local professionals, including registered nurse Shanna Belsches, who offered blood pressure checks and health information, and Pastor Dominic Green of New Destiny Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, who provided spiritual support; and
WHEREAS, Teach to Reach Teens' initiative exemplifies the positive impact of youth-led community engagement and serves as a model for addressing the needs of underserved populations through intergenerational collaboration; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Teach to Reach Teens hereby be commended for its innovative Community Caf initiative and its commitment to enhancing the well-being of seniors in the Fredericksburg area; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robyn Wilson, founder of Teach to Reach Teens, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's outstanding community service and dedication to fostering intergenerational bonds.
