1319 WHEREAS, for 25 years, Radford University has provided students with a life-changing experience by giving them the opportunity to participate in state government through the Advocacy Day program; and

1521 WHEREAS, Radford University currently serves more than 7,800 young men and women through a range of robust academic programs; 91 percent of the institution's undergraduates are in-state residents, many of whom will use their skills and knowledge to contribute to Virginia's workforce, joining more than 55,000 alumni already residing in the Commonwealth; and

1723 WHEREAS, Radford University is known for its strong bonds between faculty and students and the range of opportunities for student success in and out of the classroom; and

1925 WHEREAS, Radford University established Advocacy Day in 2000 to further elevate the institution's reputation and allow students to play an active role in the legislative process and support issues about which they are passionate; and

2127 WHEREAS, during the inaugural Radford University Advocacy Day in 2000, three students traveled to Richmond to meet with state legislators and advocate for university initiatives; the program has since grown to include more than 50 participants per year, and more than 600 students total have participated in Advocacy Day over the past 25 years; and

2329 WHEREAS, during their visits to the General Assembly on Advocacy Day, students passionately shared with legislators how their transformative experiences at Radford University have prepared them for success as engaged citizens and future leaders in their fields; and

2531 WHEREAS, Advocacy Day participants represent every college and major at Radford University, range from freshmen to graduate students, and hail from all corners of the Commonwealth; and

2733 WHEREAS, through the networking experiences provided during Advocacy Day, Radford University students gained internships, fellowships, and job connections; now, therefore, be it

2935 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Radford University hereby be commended on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its Advocacy Day program; and, be it

3137 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bret Danilowicz, president of Radford University, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the institution's unique contributions to higher education in the Commonwealth.
