HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 633
Commending the TASTE Family of Businesses.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 17, 2025
WHEREAS, the TASTE Family of Businesses, a consortium of specialty food businesses serving the Hampton Roads Region, has provided extraordinary culinary experiences and high-quality products to its customers for more than 50 years; and
WHEREAS, the TASTE Family of Businesses began as Taste Unlimited, a wine and cheese shop at Hilltop West in Virginia Beach that was founded by Peter Coe in 1973; and
WHEREAS, Taste Unlimited steadily grew over several years and in 2006 was acquired by the Pruden family, who employed their extensive experience in the specialty food industry to bolster the company's success; and
WHEREAS, Taste Unlimited was rebranded as TASTE in 2011 and five years later the TASTE Family of Businesses was established, bringing a number of celebrated culinary ventures together under one roof; and
WHEREAS, the TASTE Family of Businesses has grown to encompass 13 unique businesses, including nine specialty food markets and cafes, TASTE Catering and Events, Rowena's Specialty Cakes and Drizzles, the TASTE Bakehouse, and the restaurant Zinnia; and
WHEREAS, each TASTE endeavor is guided by the company's mission, to cultivate community through the good life, with an emphasis placed on both using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients and creating an unparalleled customer experience; and
WHEREAS, beyond its companies, the TASTE Family of Businesses has uplifted the communities it serves through its generous support of local organizations and philanthropic events; and
WHEREAS, TASTE's locations offer a warm and welcoming place for people to gather, fostering a greater sense of connection and togetherness in the community; and
WHEREAS, through its unwavering dedication to quality and service, the TASTE Family of Businesses has helped to make Hampton Roads a wonderful place to live, work, and eat; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the TASTE Family of Businesses hereby be commended for its impact on the culinary landscape and communities of Hampton Roads; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the TASTE Family of Businesses as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its contributions to Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth.
