1319 WHEREAS, the Norfolk Academy field hockey team won the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championship in 2024; and

1521 WHEREAS, the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs were dominant in the postseason, defeating the Episcopal High School Maroons by a score of 80 in the quarterfinals and the number three seed Collegiate School Cougars in the semifinal by a score of 63; and

1723 WHEREAS, in the state final, the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs were victorious over the Bishop O'Connell High School Knights by a score of 30; and

1925 WHEREAS, in addition to securing the state crown, the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs finished the season with an impressive 183 overall record; and

2127 WHEREAS, two members of the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs earned national accolades from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, with senior forward Joji Purdy named to the 2024 Scholastic All-American First Team and senior midfielder Cooper Cutchins named to the 2024 Scholastic All-American Third Team; and

2329 WHEREAS, the successful season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of family members, friends, and the entire Norfolk Academy community; now, therefore, be it

2531 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Norfolk Academy field hockey team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championship; and, be it

2733 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Norfolk Academy field hockey team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
