1319 WHEREAS, for 52 years, Moneta Farm and Home Center has worked diligently to meet the needs of the Bedford County community as a trusted source of a wide range of products and services; and

1521 WHEREAS, Moneta Farm and Home Center traces its heritage to 1923, when Samuel and Lila May Woodford established a poultry farm in Moneta; their third son, Calvin, began running the family business after he returned from World War II and received a degree in poultry husbandry from what is now Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and

1723 WHEREAS, Calvin Woodford oversaw significant growth in the business, which produced as many as 12,000 dozen eggs in the 1970s; his wife, Macklyn, and his five children, Patricia, Jim, Kathie, Stuart, and Mark, all helped with the family business at various points; and

1925 WHEREAS, in 1973, recognizing that poultry was becoming less profitable, Calvin Woodford opened a seed, feed, and fertilizer store, which was originally known as Moneta Farm Service and affiliated with Southern States; and

2127 WHEREAS, Moneta Farm Service became a focal point of the family business, especially after Jim Woodford opened a power equipment department and Stuart Woodford returned from East Tennessee State University with a degree in business management and oversaw the growth of several other departments, including hardware, lawn and garden supplies, construction materials, and marine equipment; and

2329 WHEREAS, as the years went on, more members of the Woodford family joined Moneta Farm Service, including Kathie Woodford's son, Clifford, who became the manager of the power equipment department and assistant general manager; and

2531 WHEREAS, Moneta Farm Service evolved to meet the changing needs of the community, especially after the growth of the area around Smith Mountain Lake, and changed its name to Moneta Farm and Home Center to better reflect its wide range of products and services; and

2733 WHEREAS, Moneta Farm and Home Center subsequently became affiliated with Ace Hardware, giving them access to thousands more products, and in 2022, the Woodford family sold the store to Bolster Hardware, LLC, which has upheld the business's longstanding reputation for excellence; now, therefore, be it

2935 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Moneta Farm and Home Center hereby be commended for more than five decades of service to the Bedford County community; and, be it

3137 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Moneta Farm and Home Center as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the business's longevity and commitment to excellence in customer service.
