1319 WHEREAS, Gregory Scott Cook, a patriotic veteran and a distinguished entrepreneur who went above and beyond to support his fellow business owners in Old Town Manassas, died on July 30, 2024; and

1521 WHEREAS, Gregory Cook served the nation as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army, earning a Purple Heart when he was wounded in action; and

1723 WHEREAS, Gregory Cook was an integral part of the community in Manassas as the founder and president of Old Town Whiskey Club, which fostered camaraderie and fellowship while promoting an appreciation for fine spirits; and

1925 WHEREAS, Gregory Cook quickly understood how the COVID-19 pandemic could affect the business community and established Old Town Strong to maintain bonds with customers and create a support network for local business owners; and

2127 WHEREAS, through Old Town Strong, Gregory Cook sold t-shirts and other apparel, raising nearly $20,000 in just 30 days to help bars and restaurants cover operating costs and weather unprecedented times; and

2329 WHEREAS, thanks to Gregory Cook's visionary leadership, Old Town Strong continues to uplift local businesses, support community initiatives, and address pressing needs in the greater Manassas area, providing resources, guidance, and support to local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and residents in need; and
