2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 734 Commending Fair Oaks Elementary School. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025 WHEREAS, Fair Oaks Elementary School of Henrico County Public Schools, one of the historic Rosenwald Schools, has greatly served the Highland Springs community for many years by ensuring the academic, social, and emotional well-being of its students; and WHEREAS, Fair Oaks Elementary School was created through the Rosenwald School project, an initiative of Sears, Roebuck and Company president Julius Rosenwald and Tuskegee Institute president Booker T. Washington to support the establishment of schools for Black students in the South in the early 20th century; and WHEREAS, Fair Oaks Elementary School is devoted to actively engaging its students in their learning, encouraging them to reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom; and WHEREAS, Fair Oaks Elementary School provides assistance and guidance to its faculty and staff to foster their ability to make a difference in the lives of their students; and WHEREAS, Fair Oaks Elementary School is generously supported in its endeavors by the Friends of Fair Oaks Elementary School, a group of former students, educators, friends, and families that attended the school several years ago; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Fair Oaks Elementary School are the result of the efforts of its students, the dedication of its teachers and staff, and the unwavering support of its families, parent-teacher association, the Friends of Fair Oaks Elementary School, and the entire Fair Oaks Elementary School community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Fair Oaks Elementary School hereby be commended for its legacy of service; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Fair Oaks Elementary School as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to Highland Springs and the Commonwealth.
