HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 740

Commending Colton Moye.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025

 

WHEREAS, Colton Moye, a student at Giles High School, won a National FFA Organization championship in extemporaneous public speaking at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, in 2024; and

WHEREAS, earlier in the year, Colton Moye competed at a Future Farmers of America (FFA) area rally held in Wytheville and at the Virginia FFA state competition at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he finished second, qualifying for the Eastern States Exposition; and

WHEREAS, at the 2024 national contest, Colton Moye demonstrated an extraordinary ability to adapt and remain calm under pressure as he responded to a variety of challenges on the day of the competition; and

WHEREAS, the year prior, Colton Moye won a state championship in a Future Farmers of America creed speaking contest at Virginia Tech and a bronze medal at the FFA National Convention; and

WHEREAS, in addition to honing his public speaking skills, the FFA contests have required Colton Moye to develop his capacity to conduct research and form his ideas in a short amount of time, preparing him for a bright and successful future; and

WHEREAS, Colton Moye's accomplishments are the result of his hard work and dedication, the leadership and guidance of his teachers, and the unwavering support of his family and the entire Giles High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Colton Moye hereby be commended for winning the 2024 National FFA Organization championship in extemporaneous public speaking; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Colton Moye as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievements and best wishes for his continued success.
