2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 760 Commending Angie's Bakery. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025 WHEREAS, Angie's Bakery, a unique, family-owned bakery offering delicious treats inspired by traditional Asian recipes, has served the Virginia Beach community for 37 years; and WHEREAS, Angie's Bakery was established in 1988 by Angie and Jaime Olaes and has become a cherished institution with the Filipino community of Virginia Beach; and WHEREAS, after Jaime Olaes retired in 2019, he sold Angie's Bakery to his brother, Eduardo, who worked with his wife, Lelis, and son, Ken, to bring a fresh perspective to the business; and WHEREAS, since that time, Angie's Bakery has preserved numerous customer favorites while adding even more original recipes from the Philippines; and WHEREAS, among its many delectable baked goods, Angie's Bakery offers expertly crafted Hopia, a Philippine bean-filled moon cake-like pastry and continues to use the original family recipes for Pandesal, a soft and fluffy yeast bread roll with a vibrant purple hue and Ensaymada, a rich, brioche-like Filipino pastry that originated during Spanish colonial times; and WHEREAS, Angie's Bakery also includes a coffee shop, offering their famous Ube Latte, made with purple yam concentrate, milk, and ice; and WHEREAS, Angie's Bakery has long been known for its delicious pastries, friendly service, and welcoming ambience and is a must visit destination in Virginia Beach for those seeking mouth-watering Filipino creations or visitors looking to explore new flavors; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Angie's Bakery hereby be commended for 37 years of service to the residents of and visitors to Virginia Beach; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Angie's Bakery as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its contributions to the city's vibrant culinary culture.
