1319 WHEREAS, Clarence Hiram Jones, Jr., an esteemed public servant and active and beloved member of the Brookneal community, died on April 3, 2024; and

1521 WHEREAS, Clarence Jones worked tirelessly for 40 years at BWX Technologies, Inc., in Lynchburg and later was an employee of Henderson Funeral Home in Brookneal; and

1723 WHEREAS, Clarence Jones faithfully served as a member of the Brookneal Town Council, taking great care to ensure the locality's success and prosperity; and

1925 WHEREAS, Clarence Jones was a life member of the Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department who gave generously of his time for more than 40 years to promote the safety and well-being of others; in recognition of his service, he was elected president of the department, the first individual to hold that position in the department's history; and

2127 WHEREAS, Clarence Jones supported his community as a proud and dedicated member of Staunton River Masonic Lodge #155 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; and

2329 WHEREAS, in honor of his commitment to his community, Clarence Jones was presented the Citizen of the Year award by the Brookneal Lions Club; and

2531 WHEREAS, Clarence Jones was guided throughout his life by his faith and was a devoted member of Brookneal Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community and served as an elder, deacon, and trustee; and

2733 WHEREAS, preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, JoAnn, Clarence Jones will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his children, Clarence III and Leigh Ann, and their families and by numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

2935 RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Clarence Hiram Jones, Jr., a treasured member of the Brookneal community whose dedication and legacy of service inspired all who knew him; and, be it

3137 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Clarence Hiram Jones, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
