2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 770 Commending Ally and Michael Stebner. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025 WHEREAS, Ally and Michael Stebner, two experienced chefs and restaurateurs in Sterling have demonstrated their commitment to culinary excellence and built a strong connection to the local community through their restaurants, Local Provisions and Brasserie Royale; and WHEREAS, Michael Stebner is a visionary, award-winning chef, whose cuisine has earned numerous accolades, including two invitations to the renowned James Beard House in New York; and WHEREAS, Michael Stebner trained in renowned kitchens like the French Laundry and Lavande in the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, both in California; he worked as a sous chef at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas under acclaimed chef and mentor James Boyce, then served as chef de cuisine for the world-class Azzura Point at Loews Coronado Bay Resort; and WHEREAS, Michael Stebner is a champion for the Slow Food philosophy, which preserves local food traditions and provides education about responsible food choices; he previously operated the award-winning restaurant, Region, in San Diego, California, during which time he represented San Diego at the Slow Food convention in Italy; and WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Michael Stebner has also gained experience with national restaurant chains, serving as the director of culinary at Sweetgreen, and he has worked on menu development and brand scaling with Cava Grill; and WHEREAS, after moving to Northern Virginia, Ally and Michael Stebner opened their own restaurant, Local Provisions, which has quickly become a community favorite and developed a loyal following of regular customers for its welcoming atmosphere, unique decor, and use of local ingredients like rockfish from the Chesapeake Bay; and WHEREAS, Ally and Michael Stebner's latest venture, Brasserie Royale, strives to make traditional French cuisine more accessible, promising fresh and exciting takes on classic recipes that will appeal to foodies and casual diners alike; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Ally and Michael Stebner hereby be commended on the occasion of the second anniversary of their restaurant Local Provisions and the opening of their new restaurant Brasserie Royale; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ally and Michael Stebner as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for their contributions to the vibrant dining scene in Sterling.
