2025 SESSION ENROLLED HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 787 Celebrating the life of Corey Rashaad Peterson. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 19, 2025 WHEREAS, Corey Rashaad Peterson, beloved member of the Hampton Roads community who achieved great success in the field of marketing and sports management, died on September 26, 2024; and WHEREAS, born in Norfolk, Corey Peterson attended Virginia Beach Public Schools and graduated from Tallwood High School before earning a bachelor's degree in communications from Norfolk State University; and WHEREAS, with a lifelong passion for sports, Corey Peterson embarked upon a career in marketing with a focus on sports management and sporting venues, employing decades of knowledge and experience to excel in his field; and WHEREAS, in addition to following and discussing sports regularly, Corey Peterson enjoyed traveling the country extensively to attend sporting events; and WHEREAS, Corey Peterson was an avid shoe collector who was highly regarded for his impeccable sense of style; and WHEREAS, Corey Peterson was admired by all who knew him for his friendly and personable demeanor and his ability to make conversations and connections with anyone he met; and WHEREAS, preceded in death by his mother, Francine, Corey Peterson will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his father, James, Sr.; his stepmother, Dianne; his brother, James II; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Corey Rashaad Peterson, a treasured member of the Hampton Roads community whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Corey Rashaad Peterson as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
