1319 WHEREAS, Margaret Higgins Disney, who has made numerous contributions to the Commonwealth as a volunteer leader, retired from the Virginia Society for Human Life after more than four decades of service and achievements; and

1521 WHEREAS, Margaret Disney was born to Helen and Aloysius Joseph Higgins and raised in Richmond; she attended St. Paul's Catholic Grade School, graduated from St. Gertrude High School, then continued her education at Richmond Professional Institute, now known as Virginia Commonwealth University; and

1723 WHEREAS, Margaret Disney married W. Barrett Disney and together they raised four children, Barry, Brigid, Eleanor, and Katie, and have six grandchildren, Mitchell, Joey, Soirce, Jasper, Celeste, and Vincent; and

1925 WHEREAS, Margaret Disney is a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and served as president of the St. Bridget Council of Catholic Women; she also served as president of the Richmond Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and the Baltimore Province director, representing the Diocese of Richmond to the Board of the National Council of Catholic Women; and

2127 WHEREAS, Margaret Disney has been a volunteer with the Special Olympics, assisting participants in a variety of activities including skiing, bowling, basketball, and softball; and

2329 WHEREAS, in 1981, Margaret Disney began working at the Virginia Society for Human Life, which had been established in 1967 and was the first statewide pro-life organization in the United States at the time; and

2531 WHEREAS, for 43 years, Margaret Disney was a dedicated and faithful employee and a passionate advocate for pro-life issues; she ultimately retired from the Virginia Society for Human Life in November 2024 as an office manager; now, therefore, be it

2733 RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Margaret Higgins Disney hereby be commended for her work in advancing policies in support of life on the occasion of her retirement from the Virginia Society for Human Life; and, be it

2935 RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Margaret Higgins Disney as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her achievements and gratitude for her contributions in support of life to the Commonwealth.
